Nobody Messes With The Do

It was a general consensus that nobody was happy the last time I cut Will's hair...and eventually shaved it all off. So this time around we had to take Will to get his hair professionally done :

There was a lot of anxiety because when I cut his hair last time he was kicking and screaming. This time around though, there was enough distractions that he was really well behaved:

As long as there was a TV on, it didn't matter who was touching this hair:

So little hair for $20!

In the end the do looked good, but this next picture just proves that it takes more than nice hair to make a good picture:

Pre and Post Christmas Dland Trips

Christmas at Dland is always fun if you're into that whole holiday decorations thing:

In he interest of making less posts about Dland, I've consolidated the multiples trips into one post. Here is Kai's first visit to the magical kingdom. We got to take out Grandma and Grandpa's present:

I swore I wouldn't be one of those double stroller parents taking up a crap load of room at the park...but oh well.

Konrad helped take care of Will by giving him a head start on driving:

Pooh And The Abusive Parents

Catchy title? Or at least so crazy that it makes you wonder.

Staying true to form, we like to make our little lumps of inactivity interesting to us so we get something out of this whole thing (besides sleepless nights). Plus we like putting Kai next to things so you can see how small he is.

At first he was asleep and did not even notice:

Then he wakes up and didn't even care:

He's seems happy to find out that it's Pooh keeping him company:

But then he realizes how freakin' big it is and is a bit scared at how unnatural it is:

Strike A Pose...The Sequel

When you join this family we tolerate you waking us up at all hours, we'll clean up your poop and the whole nine yards. Just know that there's always a price to pay. In our case, we make you pose a lot for our entertainment. Here's Kai:

Open To The Public

Had lots of visitors that came to see the new baby:

Also had other family come over. All of them saw Kai in the hospital, but it's always nice to have people come over and hang out. Someone else came over...but she seemed more interested in someone else:

Will loves playing with Lily so much....he even lent her his binx and didn't throw a fit when she kept it for a while. So nice of Tri and Thuy to come visit and bring good food!

The Checkup

We had to take Kai in for a routine checkup which the hospital recommended we do after a few days. One thing I will say is that the office was crowded with lots of new born Christmas babies. We had to wait a while so we distracted ourselves and found some things that are baby sized:

We eventually saw a doctor and the baby had to strip down:

Since Kai looked so cute, Mom had to join in on the fun:

Kai is a shy and bashful little baby and had to cover up after the exam:

As with all infants, everything they do is so freakin' cute that we just had to get all the poses:

And we had to document where he was born:

All these pictures with mama got me jealous so Kai and I had some alone time and I got a good pic:

Home At Last

Somethings you have to do with an infant...such as making them wear ridiculously cute beanies:

He's eating well...and even peeing well...I just wish he didn't do it on me:

The one person that is not doing as well is Will. Jealous doesn't even begin to describe it. We have to find ways to distract him from Mom and Kai, so we took him out on one of his new toys:

For some reason people like to ride things at my house:

It's a bit rough for big brother. Mom can't pick him up for a few weeks until she's fully recovered and he doesn't not have our full attention anymore. But as long as we keep him busy and get him tired, he'll deal with it and sleep anywhere:

Returning To The Scene Of The Crime

I know I typed the story, but here are some pictures of the day Kai was born...also known as Christmas Eve to a lesser extent.

Things were all good this time around. No complications, quick birth, and beautiful baby. Mom got all her wishes grant so she thought she'd push the envelope and wish for peace on Earth:

Alas, that one didn't work out. After the boy popped out, he was lojacked so nobody could take him:

Here's a strange story. The nurse that helped deliver Will:

Her name is Wendy. We recognized her from somewhere...turns out she was the nurse that helped deliver Will 2 years and 1 month earlier:

That's her in the background. Hard to tell in the pictures, but she's one in the same. We had her take our first picture with baby Kai:

She cut off my head! Well, she's a better nurse than photographer thank God. I did get some alone time with Kai really quick:

The next day, we got some visitors...some of them missed the point of the visit and just played around:

Will eventually met Kai and I got to take my first picture with the boys:

And then eventually our very first family photo...Kai is thrilled to have us as you can see:

All in all, it was easy going for the two nights we stayed there. Kai was VERY good and I did not lose as much sleep as I did with Will:

Mom pretty much recovered the same day and looked good:

We were a bit split on if Kai looked like Will when he was born. We held him next to a picture we had on this blog of Will...what do you think, do they look the same?:

We could have gone home on the 24th, but they wouldn't let us go until Kai took a leak. He finally did and we went home at noon on Christmas day:

After a long stay, the first thing we did is crash...and found out some things are genetic apparently:

Seasonal Shifts

Cherise began her maternity leave on Dec. 9th, and my work threw her a mini shower because they were so excited that she was having a baby...and to be getting rid of me when I go on paternity leave:

That's the only picture I got of the event...you'll have to trust me that other people were there besides us and the cake.

We also got a Christmas tree and found out the hard way the difference between noble fur and douglas. Oh well, live and learn:

I also had to shift my work schedule to get in earlier and leave earlier because I have to drop off Will at daycare since Cherise was worthless her last two weeks of being pregnant and couldn't lift Will out of his seat. It was hard on Will for the first few weeks...he always went to school tired, and we never found time in the morning to do his hair:

Yep, these days all of us are pretty tired:

But nothing makes us feel better than the holidays:

Terrible 2 Party!

Another year older, another...party! It seems like only yesterday that the zoo was in town for Will's 1st birthday. How would mom top it this time? With bubbles of course:

For the adults, not so cool. But all the kids seemed to like it a lot:

They also got to play and make some bubbles of their own...outside of course so I wouldn't have to clean it all up:

And then he passed out like it was midnight:

Grandma seemed disappointed that he was sleeping through his party:

But he eventually woke up slowly. Here's mom carrying 2 babies!:

All in all, around 60 people showed up. We are going to have to start treating these birthday parties like our wedding and cut down on the invites next year! Thanks all for coming and seeing our new place.

Party of 4!

What a day! We have been on high alert these past few weeks. Baby #2 had a due date of Dec 25th, but his bro came out 2 weeks early so we thought the same would happen for this one. Time ticked by...many sleepless nights were had...but nothing!

Cherise went to the doc's office today for a check up and upon examination, she was surprised to feel the head! Turns out she was 4cm dilated but did not feel anything. She scheduled us to check in to Ronald Reagan Hospital at 3pm on 12/23/11. I went back to work, picked up a few things, told everyone the eagle was about to land and then took off. Figures this kid would come out during vacation time! I lost out on some extra time off! I will find it in my heart to forgive him someday.

After we checked in, and some initial screening, some of the nurses and doctors actually thought that Cherise was not having contractions and were going to send her home...but after another exam, it turns out she was now 7cm dilated! All the confusion was over the fact that she was in no pain at all and did not feel the contractions, so they thought she was not in labor. In fact, she did not really feel any pain, got the epidural in right away and was in zero pain until maybe an hour before active labor. Oh, and we had the same nurse (Wendy) from our last delivery here! What a coincidence!

The last problem child started active labor at 6:30pm and popped out at a little after 9pm. This time around active labor started at 12:04am on 12/24/11 and he shot right out at 12:26am with no complications at all! What a huge difference this time around! Sounds like we'll be able to go home today and be home in time for Christmas. The day is just beginning and the sleepless first week has just begun.

Hawaii Through Cherise's Camera

So there are somethings I did not document with my camera phone, so hopefully these pictures fill in some blanks.

Here's the overview of the house we stayed at:

Yes, it was right on the beach!

Thought a lot of the time was spent in the pool:

As you can tell, Cherise loves the color accent feature on her new camera:

We also went to the Sea Life Park...though you can't really tell that from this picture...but it was at the entrance!

Due to a long wait at the airport, we became a little bored and explored some other special effects with her new camera:

And because he's such a "good boy"...he slept BEFORE he got on the plane...what a long flight home that was:

Hawaii Through My Camera

I could probably break this up into 2 separate posts but I am too tired and lazy to do it the right way. Once again we did Thanksgiving the way the pilgrims did it...In Hawaii! This time we went to Waialea on Oahu.

This also mark the last trip we can take with Will where he flys free :( Probably for the better anyhow, because it was a pain doing a 5 hour trip with him on our lap.

After we settled in and did some of the typical stuff, we found ourselves doing some...not so typical stuff a few days later. We went to this Buddhist Temple:

He decided life was not worth living and tried to jump off:

Best part of the trip was Will spending time with his cousins...mostly because it meant he could waste energy chasing them around while his parents relaxed:

We did do some things that were not so interesting according to Will:

There was also some deep sea fishing action on this trip (another Jung first). We saw some things that we didn't want to catch however:

Eventually yours truly caught the biggest fish, a 30 pound wahoo (or ono in Hawaiian), and my Dad caught a 15 pound tuna.

Will did not appreciate it though, as he chowed down on some sweet pinnaples:

We also got a chance to venture to the other side of the island to see the new Disney Hotel:

But we also judge a trip with our stomachs...and I must say, besides the malasadas, the shaved ice was quite magical:

All this relaxing got tiresome though:

And alas, the trip had to end with a long long long long 5 hour flight back...bad Will!

So spoiled...he's not even satisfied with one binky anymore:

Something Old and Something New

Starting off with something old...Grandma came to town (don't hit me for calling you old!):

Of course we had to take Will to do...well, what he does every other week. She always saw her grandson on the carousel on the blog...and now she got to live it in real life.

All Over The Place

We felt like it was about time to crash another party, and the Quinnans had unfortunate pleasure of hosting us. I know I have been neglecting my South Bay neighbors but what better occasion to get together than for Cameron's 1st birthday bash:

If you got season passes, might as well use them. I believe it's our 3rd time to the zoo this year and Will seems to enjoy it more and more with each visit. He can identify a lot of the animals and more importantly imitate them.

This picture isn't really zoo worthy, but Will likes the water and he spent a good 10 minutes here just watching the water:

Pumpkin Patch Kids

Tis the season for some pumpkin huntin' and there's no better place to find them than a...well, a pumpkin patch. To make it easier to hunt them, Will decided it would be best to try to blend in to their natural habitat:

He has a few costumes this year so we had to use them whenever we get the opportunity. I don't remember ever going to g a pumpkin patch before but I'm sure I did when I was young

I was really there just to take pictures weather we had fun or not:

Will was tired of going to places with people that were older than him, so we brought someone that was more his age:

We pretty much lost parental power with our son the moment he started walking. But now he has reached a new level of defiance by climbing:

The Big 200!

2 years and 200 posts later, the blog is still alive an kicking. Albeit on life support this month. And to celebrate the 200th post, I am going to...post Will doing what he has done his entire life:

Not even that pile of toys could keep him awake for a car ride. Every time he sleeps, it actually makes me jealous because that's what I want to do:

But there are some benefits to him sleeping:

I get to eat in peace! Unlike previous posts where I show Will sleeping, this post actually has a bona fide reason for showing his Rip Van Winkle impression:

That's right, his grandparents spoiled him once again by getting him (and constructing!) this ridiculously cool bunk bed. And to keep the sleeping theme alive:

Auntie Jen bought him Yo Gabba Gabba bed sheets! Will actually sleeps the entire night on his own in this bed as well. We were going through a rough patch at night when Will kept running to our room in the middle of the night to come sleep with us. This bed keeping him in his room the entire night makes this bed worth it's weight in gold!

Waterboy

The total amount of water in the average man is around 57%. Infants can be as high as 75%. I think Will is trying to regress from being a toddler back to an infant. Every time this kid sees a pool or the beach he just goes crazy. His favorite thing to eat at dinner? A nice nutritious cup of ice.

So it should come as no surprise that his favorite past time is running into fountains!

Well, and drinking out of them:

Even if you try to drag him away, he'll hold onto it for dear life:

So instead of fighting it, we just accept it...and bring a change of clothes:

A typical day for Will at daycare is him checking in at 7am, taking a nap at noon and then waking up at 3pm. Sometimes, he just doesn't have a chance to take that nap because there's too much fun stuff going on. But when something is that important, you find ways to work it in.

Just Can't Get Enough Of...

Disneyland. Yes I can, but everyone else can't apparently. When in doubt of what to do for the weekend, we just head out to the magical kingdom:

It's like a tradition, we have to hit up the Chinese take out box ride in the A Bug's Life land.

No matter how extravagant the ride is, Will always goes crazy for the merry go round:

It doesn't really matter what the animals are on it as you can see:

That otter is always trying to get into our pictures!

Later on in the day we ran into a surprise guest:

Charlotte! Oh and Mark. She's so well behaved and cute! Make me wish we were having a girl. Buuut, one more boy to the clan means we're that much closer to an all Jung basketball team, so it's all good.

Lots of work taking kids to Disneyland, but it is much for fun going in big groups. If you're headed out there, let us know!

On My Own

As the little tyke grows up ever so quickly, he develops his own personality. He has to decide what he likes to ride:

All Over The Place

Been spending the month going out and about and trying out some new things to see what Will likes at the ripe old age of 21 months. Man we're getting old. I forgot what it was like to have a little helpless kid in my arms unable to do anything but sleep and eat. So to refresh our memory, we decided to have another kid...and just so we could relive the experience exactly as it was, we had another boy! Weird lead into the announcement? Wouldn't be the first time! I like to catch people off guard. Oh, and Cherise is 5 months along. So if this is your first time finding out...SORRY!

Gotta dig Will's outfit too. I want to say that is all muscle, but I can only get away with so much embellishment.

To prepare for the new kid we went shopping for some furniture at Ikea where we found the strangest thing...in the bathroom...facing the toilet:

Convenient? Sure. Creepy to have your kid watching you drop a deuce? Definitely. What will those Swedish people think of next?

We've also been thinking about upgrading our car to something more spacious. The grandparents were gracious enough to let us test out their Sienna Minivan:

Will approves obviously, and I think we've settled on getting one. We just have to come up with a sudden influx of money. So if anyone has a good pyramid scam or the winning lotto numbers, give me a buzz.

Even though we spend most of our time with Will, it is good to get out once in a while with just the two of us. As I have little choice in anything, the wife decided it would be romantic to go to D23:

Pretty good way to eat up an entire day. But after that day of fun, it was back to reality and the daily grind of grooming:

Yes, the 3 essentials of...well, nobody. It's a tough life I know, but we have to enjoy it while it lasts. Because pretty soon it's going to be "Table for Jung, Party of 4"!

Happy Birthday Tyler!

As further evidence that this Blog does not stay current...or even close to current with events...Happy Birthday Tyler! (note: actual events occurred on 7/30/11).

For Tyler's birthday, Joe and Amy decided to throw a bash at My Gym. It was a gym with activities geared towards kids.

They did a good job of giving everyone activities:

But despite their best efforts, you can only keep Will's attention for so long till he needs to run free:

Trying To Figure Him Out

As of today, we have known Will for almost 21 months and around 190 blog posts. The only thing I can say with absolute certainty is I don't know what the kid will do next. Yesterday he liked Classic Baby, now he likes Yo Gabba Gabba. Some days he will eat two bowls of rice, the next he can't stand the stuff.

He is getting good at recognizing what objects are used for, like sunglasses:

Granted they are upside down, but nobody is perfect...after another go:

Well, maybe we will just have to work on that.

Another trend seems to be falling alseep with random objects for security:

Even sleep positions seems to be fickle subject for the boy:

We try to get him to like cool new toys that's the latest fad at malls:

But he just doesn't take to it...so we had to let others enjoy it:

At this point, it does not really matter what toys we give him, he will always end up entertaining himself with whatever he can find:

Yes, that is indeed a bowl on his head, a toothbrush and some kind of holy scripture that somehow made it's way into our house of all houses. The main point in all of this? Just go with the flow and everything will work itself out eventually.

Another Day In Dland

We had survived. There was a lot of complaining and a lot of carrying because certain girls would not walk, but we were somehow still alive. But defeated:

Yes, on day 2 we unveiled the monstrosity of a stroller because we did not have the energy to withstand the complaining about walking and my arms were sore from carrying everyone. As you can see from the picture, I was thrilled to be the designated driver.

All that aside, we visited the main park. The #1 thing on the list? To visit Mini Mouse:

It was a ridiculous line but nothing is too good for my nieces! Best part was when it was our turn to pose with her Mini turns to us and waves, Maddie turns to Grandma and says, "She's so beatuiful!". Cute...misguided...but cute nonetheless.

We went on a bunch of rides:

Grandma is the only one screaming and Maddie seemed to be more fascinated with watching her than the ride.

We tried to get a good photo of all the girls together, but some of us just weren't having any of that:

But the highlight of the was the pool at the Disneyland Hotel:

Really? Can these grand kids be any more spoiled?!

The pool really had everything though. It seemed as if there were more lifeguards than kids and there were waterfalls, water fountains, water in diapers, water everything! And who had the most fun? You guessed it:

One cool thing was that the kids pool was shallow enough so that little kids can't drown when they fall over:

It was hysterical to see Will try and dive into water that was 6 inches deep. Having said that, there were some seriously overprotective parents there who actually made their kids wear life jackets for water 6 INCHES DEEP! I mean come on!

3 Kids 3 Adults 1 Magic Kingdom...What Could Go Wrong?

I will admit it, these events happened at the end of June...but it took me that long to recover from it! It all started out seeming like a simple plan. I head down to San Diego to pick up the nieces and the parents. We take the brats to Disneyland. Kids are happy, parents relax. Win win situation?

It started out predictably. I met my parents in San Diego where we would get Maddie and Ashley and get them out of their parents hair. We met up and did a little dinner, did a little posing:

Oh, and Tom did a little surgery:

Did that catch you off guard? Yep, the old man ruptured his achilles and had to have surgery to fix it. Check out that ridiculous scar! Notice how much thinner his calf with the scar is compared to his healthy one too. That's what 2 months of inactivity will do for you....which is why I'm so thin too! >.>

Anyhow, caught the freeway, headed to Dland, and when we got there some were more excited:

Check out that monstrosity of a double stroller. It was an ordeal to push...partly due to my muscles atrophying from my lack of working out, but I have a feeling even someone in shape would have struggled.

We stayed in a nice room with a cool view:

That was the place we could have had our wedding at if we were willing to blow like 60k. The hotel was also under construction but for the most part it was still nice:

With our room came access to some lounge where you could get free food and free drink. Once I heard the word free, I took off like a bat outta hell. But as you can see, someone beat me:

He's my father...we're bound to have the same instincts. The place was an Asian's paradise. All you can eat everything, and they don't care if you take stuff out of the lounge with you. So naturally I brought my bag pack and loaded up on water, juice boxes, soda and cookies. The backpack was virtually bursting at the seems, but I have no shame.

They had a section there for kids:

And you could also rent any Disney movie in the world there and bring it back to your room:

But let's face it...if you were there paying for the rooms, they already had you brainwashed...no need to add fuel to the fire.

Once we brought the sustenance back, the little ones were appeased:

More surprising was the fact that the soda and cookies worked on the adults too:

But snacks were not enough, so we eventually went to California Adventure and had the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Best bang for you buck at Dland!:

After that we hit up some rides. Most of the rides that Will could ride were at a bugs life so we hung out there mostly.

Yes that's my Dad in the Chinese take out box. Apparently, Disneyland makes it easy to segregate by race!

We brought Will's stroller with us to the park, but we did not bring the double stroller monstrosity because I didn't want to push it, and more importantly I thought the girls were big enough to walk on their own:

It won't be the last time I'm wrong either...

All that sweat and all that food, lead to some stinky cloths and BO...on kids and adults...but I think we can only show the kid version of this:

Ah yes, cousins bonding...and posing in embarrassing photos that they will regret when they get a boyfriend/girlfriend.

As we were going to sleep, we found out something else cool about our room:

Well, I should say Maddie discovered it...the adults were too stupid to find the switch.

Unfortunately there were no pictures of the adults suffering like I had hoped. After an entire day off crying, screaming and whining, we were spent and didn't have a hard time hitting the hay. One day down, one to go.

High Maintenance

As Will gets older, he gets harder to entertain. He doesn't even like his (once favorite) twinkle twinkle video and Classical Baby is pretty much phased out. These days it's Yo Gabba Gabba or bust. And now, we can't even just take him in strollers when we go places. He always wants the pimp ride:

But even new toys have their limits. Eventually, things revert back to normal:

The Wedding Crashers

The one event that Will has not been to is a wedding...we can cross that one off the list now. Timbol and Tash had themselves a nice baby friendly wedding and being better parents than we are friends, we took a bunch of pictures of Will rather than the bride and the groom.

Will was good for the most part and sat quietly in the chapel:

After a nice ceremony we headed to the real party at the reception, where of course there was an expected theme:

After all the food, and alcohol for some of us, we even hit the dance floor. That is usually where I shine, but someone else stole the spotlight:

Home Is Where...We Haven't Visited In A While

It has been a while since we visited my hometown so we picked a 3 day weekend and just went for it. We used to be able to just go anywhere on a whim but now we have to take certain preparations. Cherise packs everything for her and Will and I...well I still do the same stuff.

Before the 5 hours drive, Will had to make sure he was clean and presentable for his Grandparents:

Add this to the list of pictures we show to his girlfriend when he's older. Honestly, this is probably the least embarrassing. He's got a lot more room to play in his new tub. As you'll see in some later posts, he loves playing the water still.

Being a kid is a hard job during road trips, you have to stay well fed and make sure you're comfortable:

Will had not seen these set of Grandparents for a long while, so everyone took some time off and we did some of the same old:

Always nice to see some nice clean water and breathe some fresh air. We also happened to come by to see the Magic Carpet partially in bloom (I didn't name it!):

After that we kicked back for a bit, enjoyed other people taking care of Will, but all good things must come to an end. Before we left we did sneak in a few more activities. We went to Dennis The Menace Park:

Outings Without Dad

Every once in a while, Cherise takes Will out without me. Either because she has a day off that I don't...or because I just don't want to go. Case and point:

Yes, Will loves going to the Huntington...really he doesn't have a choice, but he doesn't complain either so I'll take that as him loving it. Here's a nice picture of Will with Mom:

No matter what kind of art is there, or how many fishes or trees...Will eventually gravitates towards one thing:

So the lesson here to us is to bring a change of clothes and a towel whenever we go there. He has always come out of the Huntington soaked! But at least he enjoys it which is all that really matters.

Okay, I'm still sifting through these pictures on Cherise's camera and I keep finding more. But now the whole timeline is out of order. So forgive me if all this blogging seems so scattered.

I don't know when, but Tracy came to town and we took the Godmother to Disneyland. We were all limited to the baby rides since Will was with us. So everything was a bit boring and unexciting...except this ride which apparently scared (or confused, I can't tell) Will as much as Tracy:

He had hair so it must have been a while back. I don't remember if we posed this way intentionally, but it sure makes for a good debate:

Nothing really significant about these two but it was when Will had hair!

Weekend Warrior

In our efforts to make Will like the outside world (unlike his Dad), we around LA this past weekend. We have taken him to pretty much everywhere that we want to go, so we thought we'd just revisit the same places again. Plus, this is all we had energy for.

Started out by going back to Americana to see the best free water show in Glendale! A dubious distinction but a distinction nonetheless. We arrived at a lull in show and Will began to lose interest:

But it soon started up and Will was hooked for a good few minutes:

He was more interested in trying to jump in the water than watching the water, but long as it involves water he doesn't mind.

We then headed over to The Cheesecake Factory where Will discovered whipped cream...and the whipped cream discovered his face:

We also went back to visit the old hood. Veteran's Park really has a good park and that is one thing we miss about that area. He played on some new rides:

Now that he can walk with style, he can play on the gyms all by himself:

But some of us are having trouble letting him grow up:

It's hard to navigate this kid through crowded areas now because he wants to walk/run around. But we had fun, and will probably never do that again...if I have anything to say about it.

This past April 26th marked the 3rd anniversary for me and Cherise. Been together for way longer than that, but 3 is the legal number! It's time like these when I realize just how lucky Cherise was to have found me. To think, her life could have sucked if she met someone else.

We celebrated with a simple dinner at Musha which we have been to before but we just had a craving for this risotto:

We couldn't stay out long because somebody kept saying they missed Will (and it wasn't me!). I mean it's not like we don't take him places:

Had a nice first visit to the latest addition to the stables of babies everyone seems to be having. But this is the first girl in a while. Lots of testosterone floating around out there. Will also got to reminisce with some forgotten toys:

So after the pre party, we went to my Grandma's house for some more fun. Granted, when we went over we did not expect to go on another hunt, but who are we to be rude?

Easter x 3

I got a lot to catch up on for this blog and I don't remember what order the events happened in. And I don't have the energy to look at the dates on the pictures. So here comes the Easter entry!

I've never been one to really celebrate Easter. Sure I like watch the Cadbury Egg commercials, but that is about it. When it comes to Will getting some physical activity? I'm all for it. So call it Easter, call it exercise, call it whatever you want...whatever you call it, Will did it not once...not twice, but three times. Spoiled? I think not!

Started out Easter Sunday with a little Easter bash with a bunch of folk from our neighborhood. Apparently there's tons of families with kids around Will's age so they invited us to a meet/greet/egg hunt extravaganza.

Started out simple enough...kid gets basket:

But then he got distracted. Since everyone has kids, everyone has cool toys. So Will got a little side tracked and played with the slide rather than looking for eggs:

Will The Explorer

Had a good weekend playing tourist at our new city. We headed to a carnival that was right next to Will's daycare and had some fun there:

Not sure where he learned that from. Maybe from watching Dad fan his behind after eating burritos?

We also sampled the fine cuisine of the city by stopping by the...Grilled Cheese Truck!

Always wanted to try it and we weren't disappointed. If you ever catch the truck, I recommend ordering the "Fully Loaded" with a side of tots. Only thing that sucked was the line, had to wait almost an hour. Good thing at least one of us was prepared to brave the cold:

Comfort Zone

The new place is still a mess, but at least everything we had at the condo is now in the house! Thanks to everyone for their help, especially my parents and bro.

We have found some cool new places near our new house like the Costco Business Center which is different from regular Costcos. Will found something he liked there:

And I'm happy to say we are all now healthy and are over our various sicknesses and relapses. Man that couldn't have come at a worse time, but we should be in the clear now.

That's right, Cherise got her belated birthday present...the iPad2. Bad joke for those looking for pics of my new house? Anyhow, I haven't been able to play with it for very long because I can't pry it from Cherise's claws. But for the short time that I did have it, here is what I did:

Paging Doctor Will?

In our efforts to teach will simple words like button, we got an unexpected response:

Hey, he is a guy after all. Since he is learning anatomy so early in life, maybe it's a sign he's going to become a doctor? We have to spin this in a positive light, and we can't exactly get mad at him because it was just so darn cute.

On that note, he also tries to say "Clock" all the time but just can't pronounce that 'L'. So he ends up saying...yeah...definitely a guy.

Soothing Techniques

As he gets older, Will finds ways to soothe himself. On the flip side of the coin, he can also meltdown waaay easier, but that's not the point. One of his new hobbies is playing with this tongue:

Don't know where that one came from, but he can poke his tongue for a while to keep himself entertained. Much like when he discovered his toes.

And when we're too tired or busy to play with him there's always the old reliables like playing Classical Baby and Yo Gabba Gabba. His favorite video right now seems to be a version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on crack:

For the most part he has the same reaction as he does with other videos he likes. His mouth opens, drool comes out...and he's basically comatose. But with this video he interacts a bit with some of the characters:

If you watched it till the end you'll notice he said "Bye"! He is going through that phase where he repeats everything so I have to start watching what I say and cut out all those cuss words. Will is slowly taking away everything I love in life!

Adjusting To The House

Our new place may be bigger and better, but it still takes some getting used to for the dogs and Will. The dogs did their usual marking of their territory, but that phase was over during the first week of living there. Will on the other hand was a bit more rebellious:

Will is finding out about new things like the baby gate restricting entry to the stairs:

For the most part there are no changes that are aggravating Will, so he adjusted to the new house quickly and is up to the same old tricks:

An Even Larger Gust of Wind!

Oh, and did we tell you yet? We got a new house!!! After months of hell, we finally closed escrow on a short sale property in Redondo Beach on March 3rd. I had little time to celebrate as that night I went to New Orleans for a bachelor party. Those pictures I can't post here, but ask me about it when I see you. But when I got back and dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's on the bazillion papers I had to sign, we began the process.

Ahh yes, the sweet little 1400 sqft. condo in Westwood. It seemed so huge when we first moved in...and then quickly shrank like when Cherise washes my clothes. 99.9999999% of the reason why it became small was Will. And we figure if he's ever going to have siblings we're going to have to think bigger. So my family came down from Monterey and up from San Diego to help move. We also Chantley, Tri (the new papa!), Kris, Christian, and Konrad *cough* help us with the move. We rented a truck on Friday and moved ALL the big stuff out of the condo and into our new house. After lifting all that heavy furniture, some of were simply exhausted:

Or maybe this was just his way of saying good bye to his first home where he's lived since the second day he was born *sniff*. But after a quick rest he got right back to helping:

Honestly, these are the only 2 purple items in the entire house! He loves that dolly. He like riding it like a skateboard and even sitting on top of the boxes that were on the dolly.

Some of us stayed out till 2am moving stuff and we still did not move everything! But all the big awkward stuff is out of the way and only little things are left which we are moving out slowly but surely.

The Winds of Change

Another month, another looooong hiatus for the blog. There's a good excuse at least! But nothing Will related, hence the lack of posts (because honestly, who cares about the parents?).

I transferred to a new position within UCLA back in January. Which would explain the drop-off in my posts now that I think about it. Besides the fact that it was an entirely new position with a ton of new stuff to learn; the person who had to teach me everything left within the first two weeks. So I had to put in a lot of late hours and crap ton of elbow grease to get up to speed. And to top it all off, it was the busiest 2 months the department has seen in a long time (or so I'm told). But I survived and got a nice little raise in the process. Will in the meantime:

Yep, my genes are definitely in there somewhere.

Cherise has been busy as well. I don't know if I said this in a previous post or not, but she got promoted to a Project Manager at her job. So both of us have been putting in lots of time at work learning new skills and new people while Will:

You can't blame the kid. You know you would sleep anywhere you can if you could.

Anyhoos this month has just been all about the parents so I'm sorry to dissapoint!

I Can't Leave Those Two Alone

Whenever I leave town, Cherise gets this sudden urge to take Will for a photo shoot. This is the first, and probably last, time Will is taking good pictures with his shaved head so I guess we should savor this moment.

I can't help but think Will reminds me of someone:

Perhaps that's why Cherise dressed him all ethnically, she was subliminally reminded of The Last Airbender.

Anyone who has tried to take kids to photo shoots knows that there are always some that don't come out quite like you pictured the moment to be. For example:

I mean why would any baby looks so worried when sitting in a basket? It worked out pretty good for Moses. But for every 5 bad pictures, we always end up getting one or two good ones:

You may hate us for doing to this you now kid, but someday you'll appreciate it. If not, you can take out your issues on your kid when you have one.

Being All That We Can Be

I don't really have to say much on this post, because pictures are worth a thousand words. I'm sure I've said that many times on this blog, but it has never been more true than now.

It started out as any weekend would:

Both gave us a good laugh, but we just couldn't be seen in public with someone sporting either of those. There was a lot of crying, kicking, and screaming. But eventually we got it done and here was the end result:

Top Of The World

The next day, we still hit the slopes, but cut the day short because some of us were too tired. Instead we took Will up the hill on the Gondola. It was a few thousand feet up with some spectacular views

But he was only really interested in the people inside:

Once we got to the top, there were some more great views. You could see the edge of Lake Tahoe! But Will was still only interested in....stairs:

Cherise seemed pretty psyched about it. After we wrangled him up, we had to get some nice photo ops with the grandparents:

We said next year he's going to learn how to ski, but Mom wants him to board. So he tried the board to see if he would like it:

Grandma Loves to Spoil!

As if the grandparents weren't spoiling Will enough, they decided to buy him a sled they saw in a store window. If they had been reading my blog, they would realize that Will can play with a piece of wrapping paper for hours on end, but I guess it would seem weird to throw some paper at him in the middle of the snow.

When you have never done something before, it is always sound advice to take it out for a dry run, literally in this case:

No more testing was needed, I was confident enough to try the real thing:

He was fascinated with the whole concept, then got bored, then had fun again when I started running fast with him and whipping him around:

Next year, we'll probably try to throw him on a pair of skis.

Birthday Skiing

So I told you we went to Tahoe for a reason. I mean why else does one go there in 40 degree weather?

Yep, that was the ski/snowboard posse. Cherise, Mark and I like to board and Dad and Jen like to ski, though sometimes I mix is up and ski a bit. Here's the newlyweds in their love seat:

The Two Towers

The title doesn't really pertain to this post, except it was a fitting title for this sequel considering how the last post ended. What a geek that Bryan is!

Frodo, I mean Will continued his journey with Fellowship of the Jungs. He wandered the land in awe when grandma helped him find his precious:

That's right, your eyes do not deceive you. It's a doggie poop bag. We figured we'd throw his diapers in there and throw it away outside the room so it doesn't stink the whole place up.

We then wandered into the land of Rohan and found one of their fabled horses:

Alas, the fellowship pushed on as we could not find the great Gandalf. We searched the land near and far:

Unsure that we were using this device of wizardry correctly, we experimented with different techniques until we finally figured it out:

The burden of the ring was too much for our young heroin, so he sat down again. Disheartened by the perils of the land and our futile quest to find Gandalf, we settled for finding the oldest guy we could:

Victory! Will's journey had ended in success, so he celebrated with his loved ones:

Though his heart was filled with elation, Will could not help but think, "Wasn't this a trilogy? It can't end here." So young Will Baggins took flight turned in for the day:

For his senses told him, that this cannot be the end!

A Baby For All Seasons

If you're a loyal follower of Mr. Will (and I assume you are since you're still reading this blog), then you know that Will has traveled all over the world and in all types of weather. By now he's had his fill of the tropical climates, so he told us he wanted to fly to Tahoe. And we happen to celebrate Jen and Cherise's birthday a bit early as well.

First step, fly southwest to Sacramento. By now we are seasoned veterans of this whole flying with a lap baby thing. It certainly rocks that Will gets to fly for free, but now his bags fly free too! I was all ready to shell out some cash when I checked in 5 bags for this trip, but then the attendant reminded me that bags fly free (as the Southwest chime dinged in the background). 2 snowboards, 2 bags, and a baby seat. Hell, I would have checked Will in too if they had let me.

Speaking of Will in the airport...here's how ridiculous airport security has become. The TSA people actually stopped me at the security point so they could pat down Will. That's right, you read it correctly. They wanted to pat down my 14 month old baby because he was wearing a sweatshirt and looked suspicious. Next time, Will goes through the metal detector naked! Or in the tray through the X-Ray machine:

Anyhow, we arrived in Sac town and waited for the grandparents to pick us up. Someone couldn't wait to get going:

But before we headed up the mountain, we made a pit stop at In-N-Out. Though it's been a while (in grandparent time), Will still remembered his grandparents:

As he got spoiled by them, he quickly became lazy:

After a short 1.5 hour drive, we got to Squaw Valley. Once again we stayed at a room that was on the the ski resort, so the lifts were walking distance. Here is the view from our room:

The kid was eager to get out since he was travelling all day so he went out to stretch his legs in the snow:

It was his first time walking in the snow, but he handled it like a champ. After walking around the entire village, he needed to take a seat:

And like the first Lord of The Rings, I'm going to abruptly end here...

Park Place

The park has quickly become Will's favorite thing to do. Luckily it is only 2 blocks away from us so we have no issues going out for a family stroll and getting some fresh smoggy LA air:

I'm not one to complain (more than once on the same post) but it bothers me a bit that Will has dozens of toys better than this at home, yet he has more fun on this thing. I can't even tell you what it is. Red turtle?

But I got over myself and didn't let it ruin my day. I may be a little heavier than Will:

This was one of the things that scared Will last trip for some reason, but this time around he couldn't get enough of it.

The toy that he liked to play with the most though are the blocks. He just climbs to the top all of the time and just gazes out into the distance.

When we finally had to leave, Will was sad that we had to leave the blocks behind. Mom was so sad for Will that she used that engineering degree to make one for him at home:

It's a good thing I buy diapers in bulk when they're on sale!

You Feeling Lucky Punk?

Happy Birthday Kadeen! The birthday girl decided to throw her Soirée at Lucky Strike at LA Live.

We are far from avid bowlers, but there was lots of drinks there!

Good times were had by all, even Will who got to spend the night with grandma and grandpa.

More On The Way!

More playmates are on the way for Will. Tri and Thuy threw a baby shower for the expecting Mom:

Whenever you go to a place with lots of babies, it's best to devise a system so that everyone knows which baby is yours:

As you can see we did the matching shirts buddy system. And if you're wondering what happened to Will, he was hanging his head out the car window on the car ride down.

Lots of people showed up:

But there was surprisingly little drama there despite our best efforts to instigate (wink wink).

T and T's house is conveniently located next to a nice park which is Will's new favorite outing event:

After all the fun, I had to sit down for some rest:

Alas, it got late but I left with a full stomach. You can't tell from this picture, but my stomach definitely became bigger than Thuys...no small feat.

I didn't have any pictures of Lily's future room, but I'm sure we'll be back to visit soon!

Ray, the Zoo is closed!

In our effort to diversify the places Will is exposed to, we decided to buy annual passes to the Zoo. Fine by me considering that it cost 10 times less than a Disneyland Annual Pass:

Having said that, there are some things at the Zoo that don't compare to Dland:

No big loss I suppose since we're not supposed to be there for the food. We're there for cute little animals right!?

A Day in the Sun with our Son (See what I did there?)

This weekend had given us some sunny days,

So we thought we’d go out and soak some rays.

It took some convincing since Dad likes to stay in,

But going outside at least makes the little one grin.

We went to the park to run around on the green,

And then to an area where many kids could be seen.

Will ventured over to the vacant swing.

His first time on it certainly made him cling.

For Will to feel safe he had to swing for a while,

But when he was comfortable he broke out that smile.

Next we went over to climb some blocks,

He had so much fun he thought, “My Parent’s Rock!”

The fun didn’t stop there as you can see,

Will rode on a dinosaur with utter glee.

Lastly he played on toy where kids are funneled,

But he dared not enter this miniature tunnel.

Hours were spent at sunny Veteran’s Park,

Alas we headed home before it became dark.

A great day at the park with many pictures to keep,

Followed by the men of the house catching some much needed sleep.

Just can't get away from there

No matter how hard I try, I can't stop my wife from making me go to Disneyland. What was the occasion this time? Clam chowder in a bread bowl. Though I do admire the excuse, it does not overshadow her intentions. But I guess it's not the worse place in the world to visit with a baby. Though this ride is not exclusive to Dland, I did get him on video riding it:

Looks like he's having fun, but he actually had more fun on the Dumbo ride. I guess the combination of going up and down while going around and around was more appealing. Not long after we hit up A Small World. I haven't been to it in a while since it has been under construction, here is the unveiling:

Sensory overload! Christmas run amuck! Whatever you want to call it, it looked pretty cool:

As if Will needed me to show him how to act. Nonetheless it makes for a good picture.

Once the boat took us in, there were some nice changes that they made for the holidays. Not that Will cared, he just wanted to see the little fake kids sing:

So to cheer me up, we went over to California Adventure to check out ElecTRONica. It was billed as a mini rave in Disneyland. I know that it sounds lame, but it was actually pretty cool. The music was great and the light shows were authentic...until you realized little 12 year olds were putting them on. But give me some sunglasses and some alcohol and I could swear it was the real thing:

The last thing we wanted to do for the night was check out World of Colors which is the new water themed show at the California Adventure. We had to catch the late show, so some of us got tired:

But I must say it was well worth it. Here is a small clip of the show:

You can probably catch the whole thing on YouTube somewhere. But I would recommend seeing it in person if you have the chance. But like everything else in Disneyland, you'll have to wait in a ridiculous line to see it.

The Grandparents Strike Again

While we were up at PG for the holidays, the GParents wanted to try taking Will to the movies. I've been hesitant because all I see are flashbacks in my head of these annoying little kids screaming their heads off in the middle of a movie and ruining my experience. But then I thought about it and came to this conclusion...It's my turn now!

For obvious reasons I didn't take pictures of him watching his first movie (which was Tangled), but here he is before the movie. He was in awe for the first 20 minutes of the movie. I mean those screens are huge to us adults, imagine how they look to someone who is 1/10 our size. Then he wanted to walk around and started to complain a bit. Grandma was kind enough to take him out for a spin while the rest of us watched the movie. She had seen it before so don't anoint her for sainthood just yet.

One of the presents we got from the grandparents made me question their parenting abilities and frankly made me gaze upon my childhood with a questionable eye:

That's right, it's a leash. I don't care if it's attached to a monkey and looks cute...it's a leash. Sigh. I swore I'd never degrade my kid and make him wear one of these. But then I thought, "Hey, let's degrade Will and make him wear this!" For some reason when I thought about it in my head it sounded cruel, but when I said it out loud, it sounded fun. But after a while we felt bad so we tucked the leash into the bag:

Sorry Will...you can't choose your parents...or grandparents for that matter.

It's all good that he like bonding with Uncle Tom, but seriously dude. You have millions of toys and this is your favorite thing to do? Even at XMas we bought Will some cool toys, and he ends up playing with the wrapping paper for hours on end. I give up!

It's always a race between a married couple when a child is born. Not to get your kid to walk, not to get him into a good school, nope none of that. I'm talking about the race that matters. The race to try to get your child to say either "Mommy" or "Daddy" first. And I believe we have a winner:

Yes I know that Will has been saying Dad or Da for a long time now. But this is the first time I've got the full fledged "Daddy" on video as proof. Take that Mom! After months of saying nothing but "Daddy" to the kid, I can finally move onto other words.

I know it's dark and I took the video with my phone so it's not great...but that's definitely a baby and he definitely said "Daddy". I guess you'll have to take my word for it that it was Will.

Looking Forward...litterally

After a long hiatus, we're back. After much pestering by family members near and far, I have picked today to resume my blogging obligations. For everyone freaking out, rest assured, Will is still here and growing. He doesn't just stop growing because I don't put it on the blog!

For Christmas vacation we went home to Pacific Grove to visit the grandparents et all. For the 5 hour trek, we thought we'd try something new with Will:

That's right, the boy is facing forward now! He doesn't look too excited about it though:

That's better, there's that smile. He's loving life with the new ride. He used to cry sometimes when facing backwards but now that he can see everyone in the car, he feels more secure. Or maybe he just like it because it's a new thing and maybe he'll start crying again soon. Either way, it's news worthy.

Yep, that was during the period when we over fed him a bit and he had the double chin going on. For some reason his face reminds me of the face that ninja baby makes:
